Rev. Dr. Douglas Kabell was ordained into the Office of the Holy Ministry on July 18, 1982 after having attended Concordia Theological Seminary, Ft. Wayne, Indiana the previous four years. His first parish was in the panhandle of rural Nebraska. While serving that parish, he learned to fly a plane and became a pilot, which the Lord used in His service and Dr. Kabell’s ministry several years later.

After pastoring that congregation for almost 3 years, he accepted a Call to Trinity Lutheran Church of Clara, another rural parish in northern Texas. It was during this time that he met his wife, Kathy, and together they had their son, Keenan. Five years after being installed at Trinity, he accepted a call to LAMP, the Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots, as a Pastor-Pilot to the indigenous people of Northern Saskatchewan, Canada. He and his wife ministered to the First People for five years before they and their son moving back to North Texas.

At that point Dr. Kabell took a break from serving congregations in order to go back to school to get a master’s degree in community mental health counseling in 2009 and a PhD in counselor education the end of 2013.

Eventually, Pastor Kabell returned to the parish as a Vacancy Pastor for a few years before the Lord Called him back into the parish to serve at Faith Lutheran Church, Graham. He was installed as the Pastor of this congregation on February 2, 2019 after service two-and-a-half months as the Vacancy Pastor of the congregation.
